Mission Statement: Community organizations coming together to improve the health of the Salina area.
The Salina Family YMCA, Eagle Communications, WorldLinc Corporation, Salina Regional Health Center, Saline County Health Department, COMCARE, City of Salina - Parks & Rec, and Central Kansas Foundation have joined forces to create the first ever Pound Plunge in Salina.
 ABOUT Pound Plunge Program
- Pound Plunge is a 12 week, four person team competition designed to lose weight through organized exercise, diet, and lifestyle behavior change.

- Starts Sunday, September 21 2008 through December 14 2008.
- Kick-off Event: Saturday, September 6 2008 at the Bicentennial Center from 8am to noon. At the kick-off event, participants will have the opportunity to pick up their Pound Plunge Kit that will include an activity schedule, weigh-in times, health and exercise related information, and a list of event prizes.
- Award Ceremony: Sunday, December 14 2008
- Pre-registration starts June 1 2008.
- Free T-shirt for all participants
- Optional Bloodwork available at Kick-off event provided by COMCARE
- (1) Lipid panel cost $12.50
- (2) Fasting blood sugar test $5
- (3) Cholesterol only test $5
- All 3 tests $17.50
Pound Plunge activities will be at The Salina Family YMCA. Teams will consist of 4 people that must be age 18 or older. There is NO COST to the participants.
The teams who have the highest combined percentage of weight loss win.
